Our laboratory tests blood, urine and tissue, and gives your doctor the results a diagnosis is built on. It covers biochemistry, haematology, clinical pathology, microbiology with serology, and cytopathology, and it runs 24 hours.
Our consultant pathologist and our consultant microbiologist work in the same laboratory. Samples are taken here, and the results go back to the consultant who ordered them, so a visit to us covers both the consultation and the test.
Services and procedures
- Biochemistry: the chemistry of the blood, including sugar, kidney function, liver function and salts
- Haematology: blood counts and clotting tests
- Clinical pathology: routine urine and stool examination
- Microbiology and serology: identifying the organism causing an infection and the antibody response to it
- Culture and sensitivity: growing the organism and testing which antibiotics act on it
- Cytopathology: examining cells to identify abnormal ones
- Sample collection, with reports returned to the consultant who ordered the test

- ISE-based electrolyte analysers, for sodium, potassium and chloride
- Nephloquant, for specific proteins and the arthritis panel
- Fibran 20, for coagulation testing
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) testing, available in-house
- VIDAS ELFA-based testing, for hormone assays and cancer markers
- 3-part and 5-part haematology analysers, for blood counts
