Our story
Prashant Memorial Charitable Hospital was founded in 2002 by Dr. Moti Sinha, in memory of her son, Dr. Prashant Priya Ranjan.
Dr. Sinha served the Bihar Government Health Services for 32 years and retired in 2002 as Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at SK Medical College, Muzaffarpur. That same year she committed her life’s resources to building this hospital. She remains our Chairperson, leads our Obstetrics and Gynaecology department, and still sees patients here every day.
Under her son, Managing Director Cdr. (Retd.) Shashank Shekhar, the hospital has grown from a single specialty into a 150-bed multi-speciality centre serving Muzaffarpur and the districts of North Bihar, with an interventional cathlab, a dialysis unit, intensive care and 16 specialist departments. Over 2.5 million patients have been treated here since 2002.
The hospital offers free checkup and medication to families below the poverty line, and is a partner hospital of Smile Train, supporting free cleft lip and palate surgery.
