We operate on the abdomen and its organs, and treat hernias, breast lumps, thyroid swellings and lumps under the skin. Appendix, gallbladder and hernia operations are the three we perform most often.
We have two consultant surgeons. We perform laparoscopic, or keyhole, surgery, in which the operation is done through several small cuts with a camera and narrow instruments. Surgery is supported by two consultant anaesthetists, an intensive care unit, a 24-hour laboratory, and X-ray, ultrasound and CT. We perform emergency surgery, and our emergency department is open 24 hours, every day.

When to seek emergency care
See us in the outpatient clinic for a lump in the groin or at the navel, a breast lump, or pain that returns after eating fatty food. Severe abdominal pain with vomiting, a hard or swollen abdomen, or a hernia that has become tender and cannot be pushed back in is an emergency. Do not wait for an appointment: come to our emergency department.
